Festival Will Celebrate the “Hometown Charm” of Local Fishing Harbor

Morro Bay, CA – [May 17, 2016] – Morro Bay’s signature event, the annual Morro Bay Harbor Festival will once again feature it “back to the basics” feel this year. The main event of the Festival will take place the weekend on October 1st with the mail event on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Once again, it will be a true local celebration of what the lifestyle and fishing community is all about in Morro Bay.
The Harbor Festival will be FREE to all attendees. The pedestrian event zone will be located on the Embarcadero between Harbor and Marina streets and will feature a variety of entertaining happenings.
Festival goers will be able to purchase the freshest seafood from our local fishermen at a variety of locations along the event including oysters, shrimp, BBQ albacore, and rock crab right from the dock. There will also be maritime heritage venues, races and water-craft demonstrations in the Bay and plenty of musical entertainment all day long. Local Morro Bay businesses will be presenting their wares and ocean-related agencies will provide information about local resources.
The Harbor Festival is a partnership between many organizations including the City of Morro Bay, the Commercial Fishermen Association, the Coast Guard, and the business community. Spearheaded by the Morro Bay Harbor Festival organization, 2016 will mark the 35th continuous year of bringing visitors to the city to enjoy “all things Bay” in this spectacular setting
As is the tradition with the Morro Bay Harbor Festival, a portion of the net proceeds will go to a Morro Bay non-profit organization, yet to be named.
