36th Annual Morro Bay to Feature Fish, Food, Family, and Fun!

Oct. 7th Event will celebrate FISH, FOOD, FRIENDS AND FUN! 

Morro Bay, CA – [Feb, 24, 2017] – The Morro Bay Harbor Festival committee is pleased to announce the 36th Annual Festival, primarily on Saturday, October 7th will celebrate “All Things Bay”.  It will be a full day of live music, freshly caught fish for sale, delicious food as well as local wine and beer to enjoy, and family fun activities all day!  Just like last year, admittance to the Festival is free for all attendees.

This year, locals and visitors will enjoy the Festival’s  “Pedestrian Event Zone”,  open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm at the water’s edge on the Embarcadero between Harbor and Marina Streets.  The Festival will culminate (8:00 pm) with a spectacular fireworks show over the harbor near Morro Rock.  Because parking is limited near the festival, attendees are encouraged to park anywhere in Morro Bay and take the free trolley.

Local favorite contests will be again available  – Hawaian Shirt Contest, Oyster Eating Contest and much more!

At the Festival, local Morro Bay businesses and vendors will be presenting and selling their wares.  Ocean-related agencies will provide information about local resources and there will be plenty for children to do including a touch tank, face painting, the Balloonatic Man, Barry Kaufmann with his mandolin entertaining children of all ages, as well as a beach sand area to encourage sand castle building and just plain fun in the sun.

San-Salvador replica shipAn added attraction in Morro Bay during Ocotber that all members of the family will enjoy during the Harbor Festival will be a replica tall ship in the harbor. Stay tuned for the announcement about this year’s ship.

All Harbor Festivseafood pictureal weekend, there will be a bounty of Embarcadero restaurants with seafood specials, live entertainment and more for Festival-goers to enjoy. Many will offer Sunday Brunches as well.

 Ancillary events during the weekend include maritime-heritage venues, mini-yacht races, water-craft demonstrations and harbor boat tours in the Bay.   SurviveOars will be demonstrating the dragon boat plus will offer opportunities for boat rides.  The Chablis will be offering their bottomless Champagne brunch plus three 45 minute harbor cruises.
