Who Makes the Best Clam Chowder in Morro Bay?
To kick off the fun of this year’s Morro Bay Harbor Festival, the Rotary Club of Morro Bay and Harbor Festival together will offer a Blind Taste Clam Chowder Cook-off Contest on Saturday, June 3, 2017. It will take place at the Morro Bay Community Center from 4pm – 7pm.
Judging the Clam Chowder will be local “foodies” and celebrities as well as the general public! Judges include Teri Bayus of Tolosa Press, Katy Budge of the Tribune Newspaper, Morro Bay Mayor Jamie Irons and a yet to be named news personality from KSBY TV. The clam chowder will be prepared by numerous Morro Bay Restaurants. the public’s winning choice will serve as the fifth vote. The clam chowder cook-off winner will get “bragging rights” as well as a free booth at the Morro Bay Harbor Festival (October 7th) where they can sell their winning clam chowder!
Tickets to the Clam Chowder cook-off are $20 and can be purchased by any Morro Bay Rotarian or by contacting the Morro Bay Harbor Festival office by calling 805 772-1155. You can also email the Festival office at firstname.lastname@example.org. Ticket price includes general public clam chowder tasting, a delicious seafood salad and fresh baked bread. No-host cocktails will also be available. Only 250 tickets will be available, so get your tickets early!
